Importance of iron in plant metabolism
Iron is constantly required during plant growth. It is a component of many enzymes and catalyzes the formation of precursors of chlorophyll - that group of materials that gives plants their characteristic green color. Chlorophylls and various iron-containing enzymes (eg ferredoxin or cytochrome b6f complex) are required for the light reactions in the plant, which provides the necessary energy for the plant growth. Therefore, iron is essential for the plant. In order to ensure optimal growth, this micro element should always be available.
Please note that the stability of iron chelates also depends on the water hardness. With soft water, the stability is generally higher, accordingly the stability is lower with hard water.
